Know Thy Enemy: a summary of "The Exorcist Files" podcasts
Spiritual warfare is real, whether you want to see it or not
In a previous article, I started a list of summary reviews of some of the episodes of The Exorcist Files podcast, with Father Carlos Martins. I highly encourage you to listen to them all, but pick a few below to get you started. Don’t think, “If I study too much all this demonic stuff, more demonic stuff will happen.” It already happens. You were born on a battlefield. Suck it up and get fighting.
My summary of many of the episodes of the Exorcist Files podcast, first 2 seasons:
Season 1
Case #1 - No Life Without Death. When a wife’s biological clock is ticking & she wants a baby, she might resort to some unorthodox treatments for achieving pregnancy. To avoid the consequences of summoning up some bad company, fellas, stick with the tried & true method for conception. Dinner. Wine. Chocolate. Movie. Also, practice Fertility Awareness (FA) & Natural Family Planning (NFP).
Case #2 - Hoc Est Corpus Meum. In this episode, and many others, Father Martins asks the demon to reveal his name. Why is this important? Because the name reveals a truth about the demon which can be used to expel him. “Names are important” as we heard from a line in the movie Nefarious. Demons fear the name of Jesus.
Case #3 - Spiritual Roulette. Overall lesson here - never play with Ouija boards.
Case #4 - Infested. Some things are not disclosed by the real estate agent or the Sellers Disclosure. Buyer beware. There could be “distressed spirits” in your new house. Tune in and learn how to handle.
Case #5 - All In Your Head. A woman reacts violently when Father Martins begins to pray over her. Why relics & intercession of saints is often a means through which God decides to heal us or answer our prayers.
Case #6 - A Taste of Honey. This is definitely an “adult content” episode, as it features a trucker receiving some attention from an attractive waitress at a restaurant. Little does he realize that it’s not his charm that compels her desires but the age-old trap of witchcraft. This episode will make you think twice when the nice lady serving you coffee at a diner calls you “Darlin” or “Sweetheart” but don’t worry, you probably aren’t a target. Even witches have standards.
Season 2
Case #7 - Dynasty of Death. Explore the mysterious dangers of generational curses in this episode. Did your grandfather make a deal with a demon, offering up the lives of his grandchildren instead? Was there a Freemason in your lineage? Make sure you renounce that heirship and claim the heirship of Jesus.
Case #8 - Predatory. A lot of young men dream of it — landing a cushy gardening job that pays well, with the bonus that the lady employer has the hots for him. Warning: any mortal sin can open the door for the demonic. Sin gives the demon rights to your body. Do not take it lightly.
“Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” 1 Corinthians 6:16
(as of 7 March 2025, the podcast website does not link to any more episodes in Spotify, therefore, for the remaining, I will link to the episodes on Apple Podcast)
Case #9 - The Ties That Bind A different priest exorcist, who has a PhD in psychology, guest hosts in this re-enactment of a chilling case of a young girl who got involved in the demonic. For anyone out there who has young children, this case might sound familiar. Always be on guard.
Case #10 - The Origin of an Exorcist. Every hero (or villain) has an origin story. Here is the origin story of Father Martins, as a young deacon in his first real showdown with the demonic. Any fan must tune in to know what happens.
Case #11 - Live Free. It is common for people to have little hauntings in their house, things they dismiss as hallucinations or superstitions and they don’t take it seriously until it begins to involve their other family members too. Your grandchildren might actually save you from yourself. When they tell you they get tapped on the shoulder, pay attention.
Case #12 - Awakened. This one exposes the dangers of Yoga. Yoga can appear to be harmless. “I just do it for the stretching,” they say. This is misleading. There is a lot more to yoga than stretching. The specific positions and breathing techniques are designed to “yoke” you to another spiritual being. Avoid it or you open a door that you will regret.
Case #13 - Eye of the Holder. Not all cases have happy endings. Always go to Confession before you tangle in spiritual warfare.
Bonus episodes:
In one of the bonus episodes / non Case File Re-enactments, (Q&A On Ghosts, Lost Souls, and Protestant Deliverance, available here), it is revealed that Protestants have their own version of exorcisms, usually called “deliverance” ministries. The power of the name of Jesus Christ can be called upon by any believer, even if they are not in full communion with the Catholic Church. The demon can be expelled, but caveat emptor — if the victim has the demon expelled but the victim does not repent and turn away from previous sins, the demon may return with others. See the parable of The Demoniac and the Returning Demon. An Exposition of Matt. 12:43-45; Luke 11:23-26.
There are LOTS more bonus episodes, Q&A, specials on the Shroud of Turin, Mary, Relics, and the discernment of spirits. I highly recommend you listen to them all.
Non nobis.
